During my preliminary studies as a composer, preparing to start my higher education journey at conservatory, I spent a lot of time studying the masters and going through each era of music history. Whenever I studied a particular period, whether Renaissance, Romantic, Impressionism or in this case Classical, my way of translating what I learnt into active, staying, knowledge was to write a piece in that style.
In this case, it kind of got out of hand, since instead of writing a short piece, I ended up writing a 25 minute symphony for small orchestra in the traditional 4-movement structure, (hopefully) following all of the text-book rules of forms, harmony, and development.
A sinfonietta basically means "little symphony". It is smaller in scope, structure, form, and instrumentation. At that time, I wanted to try my hand at writing a smaller 'practice' or 'study' symphony in a more formal classical style, before exploring the larger areas, and this is what came out of it.

It all sounds very convincing given the traditional orchestrations. I can close my eyes and imagine listening to this at the Hollywood Bowl on a warm summer evening. Congrats!
Lovely music! I really admire your writing and command of different styles. I have nothing but respect and admiration for your hard work.
This is a wonderful composition with some really catchy melodies. With this piece you show a good understanding of music history, the classical style, functional harmony and form, because it sounds air-tight.
