When Angela, the writer-director-producer extraordinary of “Orange Flavored Love” came to me with the proposition to write and produce the original score for her beautiful, intimate and emotional Middle Eastern drama, I immediately thought; Absolutely not. I have no idea how to write this kind of music with the authentic sensitivity needed to her story justice.
But these kind of challenging propositions always spark a certain creative urge in me to dive deep into the brief and research it as thoroughly as possible. So that’s what I did. Throughout this months-long composing journey, Angela stood by my side, encouraging me to go deeper and to dare to go simpler finding the heart of the film.

Alsouliman paints these details in colors so vivid that they overshadow the grimness of the bigger picture. Orange Flavored Love therefore presents itself as anything but a tragedy, but as a tribute to humanity.
Orange Flavoured Love depicts both the resilience of women in times of war, and complex, tangled feelings like maternal love or grief. Love was and still is in every seemingly negligible detail.
This is an excellent soundtrack. I love how intimate and warm the score is ... the solo musicians seem to capture the closeness of the story and the emotions of the characters.
